Darren, this is great news. The power of the web has proved it’s case here, the fact is that there are some people out there who are just greedy, and stoop so low to do anything, even if it means illegally stealing your five years hard work, and all these illustrators copyrights, and designs, to make money.
This surely has been an awful experience for you, but it’s a huge learning curve all round, we all admire you’re perseverence in this matter, and I hope all the replies you’ve had in this case, make you realise, what a great website, and focal point Apefluff, and little chimp society is around the globe, and maybe this response will give you some ideas to publish your hard work at promoting the illustration community, of which you brilliantly represent…..
Think forward once this saga is over, never look back, and take your passion forward, the response is proof what a respected spokesperson you are for the illustration community.
Well done, and good luck….I’m impatiently waiting for another update now!!!!!
Darren, I think you should seriously consider to inform the following with regard to the plagiarism in “Colourful Illustrations 93°”:
Hong Kong Publishing Professionals Society (HKPPS)

“The objective of the Hong Kong Publishing Professionals Society is to advance the image and professional interests of individuals involved in book production, publishing and marketing. To this end, the Society provides networking with peers, education and advocacy within the industry, and access to worldwide publishing information and resources.”
Graphic Arts Association of Hong Kong (GAAHK)

Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce

They do have quite some IPR activities and interests
Also you may consider asking your local office of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) for assistance - maybe they can help with some information on who to approach and search for culprit.

A couple of points of advice, which may be too old at this point:
Have the books destroyed (and get documentation of that) rather than have them returned to their supplier. If they are returned, they may be sold again through some other channel.
You should also check with Index about money, since they would be able to provide a paper trail if they’ve made payments on these books. And if they haven’t paid, I’m sure the printer/”publisher” would want to get paid and may crawl out of their cave to receive a payment.
